Brand Development

A brand people remember, and recognize anywhere.

A brand isn’t a logo. It’s what people remember about you, and what they say when you’re not in the room. I work out what you stand for, how you sound and how you look, then write it down so it stays the same everywhere.

THE FIX, WORKED OUT

How Brand Development works

GIVEN
“Nobody remembers our brand.”
FIND
A brand people remember and recognize.
  1. Find the position

Who you’re for, what you do better than anyone else, and why it matters to them.

  2. Find the voice

How you sound: the words you use, the ones you never use, and examples of each.

  3. Design the look

Logo, colors, type and imagery that fit the position, not just the trend.

  4. Write the guide

A brand guide that keeps every page, post and pitch consistent.

FIXED.

QUESTIONS

Brand Development: what people ask

What is brand development?

The work of deciding what your brand stands for and how it shows up: positioning, voice, visual identity, and the rules that keep them consistent.

Brand strategy or brand identity: what’s the difference?

Strategy is what you stand for and who you’re for. Identity is how that looks and sounds: logo, colors, type and voice.

Do I need a brand guide?

If more than one person makes anything for your business, yes. It’s how a brand stays the same when you’re not in the room.

What does it cost?

Brand Guides Done Right is $1,500 and Logos & Email Sigs That Don’t Suck is $500, both on my services page. Bigger rebrands start with a call.
